Job Opportunity: Marine and Coastal Projects Manager

Position: Marine and Coastal Projects Manager

Location: Takoradi, Ghana

Duration: October 2024 – September 2026 (renewable subject to funding availability)

Hen Mpoano is a leading NGO dedicated to the sustainable management of coastal and marine environments in Ghana. We work to promote resilient coastal ecosystems and improve the livelihoods of coastal and fishing communities. We are seeking a dynamic Marine and Coastal Projects Manager to join our team and lead key initiatives in the marine and coastal sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Oversee research and extension activities across Hen Mpoano’s marine and coastal landscape sites in Ghana, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Reporting and Synthesis: Consolidate reports from various projects and develop concise synthesis documents for policymakers, stakeholders, and funders.
  • Policy Engagement: Prepare policy briefs to influence high-level decision-making on marine and coastal governance in Ghana.
  • Data Management: Develop and implement frameworks for field data collection and analysis, using findings to shape Hen Mpoano’s programming in the marine and coastal sectors.
  • Technical Report Review: Review, restructure, and refine technical reports to meet the specific guidelines of funders and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a Master’s degree in Geography, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Environmental Management, or related interdisciplinary studies. Additional training in data analytics is an advantage.

Experience: At least 5 years of project management and/or implementation experience, preferably in the coastal and marine sectors.

Skills:

  • Strong writing and analytical skills, especially in interpreting scientific data.
  • Proven experience in writing research papers and synthesizing information.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams towards high performance.
  • Experience working in marine and coastal conservation or related fields is an asset.
